Stephanie Hawkins Burrage graduated from Covert High School in the Class of 1986. She is one of three children born to Alfred and Esperanza Hawkins.

Dr. Stephanie Burrage graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in 1990. She received her first Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin in Elementary Education in May of 1995 and her second Master's Degree from St. Mary's University in EducationalAdministration in December 1995. Dr. Burrage received her Doctorate Degree (Ed. D) from the University of Minnesota in Educational Policy and Administration in 1999.

Dr. Stephanie Burrage began her career in education teaching middle school students at Covert Public Schools in 1991. She relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota and taught Language Arts to middle school students from 1991- 1994. Dr. Stephanie Burrage became the only administrator to move from Intern-Assistant Principal, Assistant Principal and Principal in three years. She served the Minneapolis Public School District as a Principal in both sec ondary and elementary schools from 1995-2001. Dr. Burrage became the first female Superintendent in the Covert Public School System in 2001.

Dr. Burrage also served as an adjunct professor for graduate students at St. Mary's University from 1999- 2001 and she is currently an adjunct profes sor at Western Michigan University.

She is also the recipient of numerous a wards such as the ArtServe Adminis trator of the year (2004), School District Leadership A ward presented by Congressman Major Owens (2002), the Distinguished Alumni A ward (1999), the Institute for Educational Leadership Fellowship A ward (1995), Miss Congeniality to Miss Blossomtime (1986) and Miss Covert (1986).

Dr. Burrage is very active in various professional and community service or ganizations such as Rotary International, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma, and NABSE. She is also a very active member of Emmanuel Community Church.

Dr. Stephanie Burrage is married to Patrick L. Burrage. They have three children; Myles Alan, Octavia Marie and Patrick Learthia Burrage. She enjoys spending time and traveling with her family.
